Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace!

Very interesting piece.

But could it not be that the goal of the Afghan war is: perpetual war?

Has that not been the strategy of the elitists ever since?

Perpetual war for perpetual peace?

The Obama Candidacy

Posted, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 08:17 am

Last fall, you may recall, you wrote an article claiming that Mr. Obama was marginally better than Mr. McCain as a candidate and supported him as "the least bad" candidate. When I scolded you for encouraging the U.S. electorate to support a warmonger like Mr. Obama, you accused me of being "either very young or very naive". You wrote:

“But, there will be an American candidate elected on November 4, and realistically, you are faced with the

choice of deciding who would be the least worse for your country and the world. The fact that I concluded that Mr. Obama would probably be a less risky choice does not mean that I am ignorant or naive; it only means that this is my humble opinion. I have no connection whatsoever with American political parties and only look at things from a world viewpoint.”

It is therefore with much skepticism that I read your recent piece:

"The truth is that during the last election, both candidate McCain and candidate Obama were favorable to the policy of permanent wars under the cover of fighting terrorism. That is the reason I had concluded then that candidate Obama was only marginally superior to candidate McCain, but not fundamentally different. In fact, I believe that as far as character goes, McCain was probably more his own man than Obama, who has demonstrated a tendency to align himself with powerful interests in order to bolster his political career."

This kind of thing is extremely frustrating. What possible contribution to U.S. political discourse or even to analysis of political events could such statements make? You tell us that Obama is a "marginally better" candidate and therefore justify a vote for him over McCain, but now you tell us he is no less committed to international mass murder than his opponent. There is no significant difference in either foreign or domestic policy outcomes under Democrats or Republicans in this country. This should be apparent even to you right now. Yet as a U.S. citizen, it is painful to read commentary like yours, finding slivers of distinctions that do not exist while failing to understand the fundamental problems. You focus on personalities and "character" of these men as if you could in any way know about these aspects from their PR-generated images on TV and print.

At the risk of again being called "naive," I would humbly suggest that the problems in the U.S. political system have nothing to do with the individual PR front men (Obama or McCain) of the moment but with the underlying social class that owns both of them. U.S. electoral politics are illusory, masking the powerful forces for which they provide cover.  Your writing on this subject smacks of the same naivete of which you accused me. Your closing remark is simply beyond naive:

"President Barack Obama is quickly wasting his political capital and his political credibility. And once lost, it will be difficult to regain them."

"Difficult to regain"? With whom did he ever have credibility in the first place, and why would any even mildly reform-minded person want it restored? He has no credibility because his candidacy was a fraud perpetrated on the American people and the world, a fraud to which you have, and continue to, contribute. Sir, please stop.

Answer by R.T.:

I can understand your frustration.

As I see it, and as I saw it last fall, Sen. McCain was a card-carrying member of the U.S. military-industrial complex and Sen. Obama was aspiring to join the club. Now they are both in the club with Sen. Joe Liberman and others. The real difference between the two is domestic social policy (health, Supreme court, etc.) and not foreigh policy.

I have no solution to this dilemma.

Dollarocracy!

This article reflects my thoughts exactly.

Obama is basically solving for the second term, nothing else. The sad part is, between now and then, hundreds will be killed including my fellow citizens in and out of uniform. This is really criminal conduct, but that is what so called 'democracies' deteriorate to when converted to 'dollarocracies'.

You did the right and consistent analysis and conclusions of Obma foreign policy.

I wonder how many US citizens will agree with you and realize that we are on the way to disaster.

The Obama Enigma

I really appreciate your writings. If you were not a Canadian, I would say that you were an American, neither of the right nor the left, just like me and 35% of our people.

I don’t know if you will accept my contention that both parties are fascist and controlled by the same people. This has been going on for about 100 years because the power elites can’t tolerate the existence of our Constitution. If Obama can be defeated on health care and cap and trade, we will defeat him. He just said he would reduce Medicare payments and increase taxes to pay for universal health care, hell, many doctors will not accept Medicare now. There is a strong possibility that the 50 some million old people will hear of this and defeat every democrat in sight. He has already passed into law a program similar to Hitlers’s Useless Eaters program that will deny care to people government determines should be allowed to die...

Sorry for the rant, keep up the good work. Take care now, you are getting close to my polemic style.
