New America has blown it! Posted,
Monday, November 3, 2008 5:31 pm The New American Empire is not so new. And Bush-Cheney didn't
"introduce" torture into the mix. However, they have destroyed
three countries in the process, namely Afghanistan, Iraq and the USA. These
are the men, Bush-Cheney, who have full-filled the American Dream of Wide
Spectrum Dominance and should be held accountable for that. However, the USA
is not what it has been made out to be and has had a long list of leaders,
presidents, and congress critters, who have made the ideal of freedom just a
mirage, what with the current police state that we inhabit. It is not
these two men alone that have gotten us to this point. No, it took the
general stupidity of the American populace to follow them there, along with
the others, such as Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy,
Eisenhower, and not the least Trumann, to establish the National Security
State, the DEA, CIA and the whole host of criminal forces that make the USA
the greatest terrorist organization! that ever existed, at home and abroad.
For this reason, the people of the USA find themselves in the position they
are in. I have very little sympathy for your lack of pension, house, job,
etc. Americans deserve everything that is going to happen to them, and
neither Obama or McCane can prevent it. America has blown it... JC New Choose more wisely this year!. Posted,
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 11:12 pm I voted for GWB twice and am now so ashamed and
embarrassed for my misjudgment of him (although I honestly have to admit that
right after 9/11, he really did impress me by his response and hence got my
second vote) and embarrassed for the face he has given to our country. I consider myself an independent and have voted for candidates in
both parties throughout the 49 years I've been eligible to vote. I hope I choose more wisely this year.... Marie New Where were you? Posted,
Monday, October 27, 2008 9:29 pm I'm 58, no college degree, and I knew this was going to happen 3
years ago. Where were all you educated people that could have saved us by
speaking out? I told my RW cousin, undergraduate and graduate from MIT, that this
was going to happen. He would prefer to quote Rush, Sean and Bill than read
the facts. Now most of the planet is in the same pickle as us middle class
Americans under * & **. I wish I could say that this will get fixed and never happen
again.....but the world heard the same thing after the holocaust....never
again! greed, brings more greed. Power corrupts, and ultimate power corrupts
ultimately............. and the beat goes on Namaste. Serry

New American Empire New The Price of Oil. Posted,
Monday, October 27, 2008 2:12 am This is what I have been telling some hard headed folks, but they
won't listen:"Trickle-Down Econonmics don't
work!" Also, the real reason the price of oil is going down is because of
hedge fund speculation. Since many are going out of business the price of oil
is going down. Lately, there has been a huge sell off of their assets to
avoid bankruptcy. Another large one will go bankrupt soon, but no one
knows who they are because they are not regulated by the SEC. OPEC is a permanent intergovernmental organization, created at the
Baghdad Conference on September 10–14, 1960, by Iran, Iraq, Kuwait,
Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. The five Founding Members were later joined by
nine other Members: Qatar; Indonesia; Libya; UAE; Algeria; Nigeria; followed
by Ecuador, Angola and Gabon which later suspended their memberships. But OPEC is controlled by the George Bush's buddies the Saudis who
don't really set the prices. It's controlled by a group of speculators who
sit behind computers and tell OPEC what they are going to pay for their
crude, so they manipulate the oil prices, and now the time is right just
before elections. So they control the flow of oil and who gets oil and who doesn't.
After Katrinagate BP out of Whiting IN, near Chicago refused to ship
gasoline. Most of the wells in the Caribbean were owned by the Queen (BP
Oil). They were hoarding their inventory and driving prices up because they
were using derivative "Straddles"
also called called "Butterflies"
buying a put or call and a call on the same stock or stock indices by those
who believe there will be a big movement either way, so the losses are small
on either side compared to the gain. There is something even more sophisticated call "ratio spreads" based inside
the straddles, for those trying to take advantage of a 2-3% movement in the
market. ... So what you have here is a train wreck waiting to happen in the
NY energy market = NIMEX. If that spread moves $1 outside between cash and
futures, guess what happens to all the ratio spreads? It amounts to trillions
of dollars. They control oil, gold, and silver and next Bush and his cronies are
going to loot the Social Security trust fund. Sallie New Fresh air of open discussion. Posted,
Sunday, October 26, 2008 10:44 pm I usually do not intrude upon people who write information with
which I agree, but this case warrants an exception. I just read your article on George W. Bush and his
room-temperature-IQ-based incompetence. Judging from your credentials
presented with the article, you seem to be a Canadian, so perhaps a quick
note is in order to let you know that "It's OK! You are among friends
here. You do not have to pull your punches or exercise undue concern about
hurting our feelings. It's OK for you to express your real feelings about
George Bush." Unfortunately, I sincerely believe that whoever wins the election
next week, we will all lose*. I can afford to become - and would become - an
ex-patriot, but how does one - at age 72 - pick up and leave his family &
social infrastructure behind . . . to begin anew in a new country . . . or
remain here and man the barricades with pitchforks, rocks and bayonets? There
were times in our ages when such things were possible, but with the onset of
old age and the its related infirmities, our major reaction to an incompetent
or oppressive government is limited to giving voice to and further fomenting
the disaffection of the intelligentia . . . and hoping -for the sake of our
progeny - that new, enlightened leaders emerge. Keep up the good work, Sir! We need the clean, cleansing fresh air
of open discussion. * Obama offers hope and I pray that he can hold us together, but we
remain a racist society. Whether overt or passive, he will face great
resistance. David New The Issue of "Stealing" elections. Posted,
Sunday, October 26, 2008 4:52 pm Maybe one of these days you can address the issue of
"stealing" elections, like Bush did in both the last Presidential
elections: Florida and Ohio were the scenes of this horrible take-over! Those
of us who NEVER voted for Bush but voted for his opponent, were not only
dismayed at what happened, but are also disheartened to see the democratic
process manipulated with such impunity! Thanks for your insight! Many of us who didn't like this president
at the outset feel pretty powerless in view of the subsequent fiascos Bush
has visited upon the American people! Judy Answer

Sunday, October 26, 2008 10:41 am I think you aren't giving them enough credit.
There was no incompetence. In fact, it was geniusly crafted. This has been a
long time coming for the last 100 years. The corruption and blatant disregard
by not only the president, but the entire Congress is sick. There may be one
or two senators and representatives that still have a back bone made of
flesh, but the rest of them including the beloved speaker of the house is
nothing but a puppet. Clinton printed just as much worthless tender and
compromised the value of the dollar just as much as Bush. Clinton chose to
spend it differently and so he could say he left office with a surplus, which
could never happen because if the Federal Reserve does in fact accrue
interest, there is no such thing as a surplus. I would have liked to see you
discuss more on that topic, as one president cannot do this completely by
himself and the democrats have had majority rule in the Legislature for
the last almost 3 years. It goes so much beyond Bush and Cheney. I wish
someone would break the entire story wide open and lets see how the cards
really fall. I think we will find the lines between democrat and republican gets
very fuzzy as to who is really calling the shots. I am completely distraught
over how Bush and Cheney have behaved and some of the bills they have managed
to get through Congress are ludicrous, but again, there were 535 people who
had to vote for every one. Lets be realistic and just impeach all of them. Kristen New The Most Responsible. Posted,
Saturday, October 25, 2008 10:36 pm Very good article, but you omitted a few important pieces. The "culprits" in the economic meltdown are as follows
(with those most responsible listed first): 1. The Federal Reserve for keeping interest rates artificially low,
thereby encouraging increases in the selling price of houses beyond all
reason and creating the illusion that housing "values" would
increase forever. (Note: Values and prices are obviously not the same thing).
This produced the "bubble" and encouraged builders and developers
to create the excess inventory of houses that are now a glut on the market. 2. The Clinton administration Justice Department and HUD officials
who coerced lenders into initiating "liar loan" programs. 3. The Big Investment Banks and Insurance companies that created
these "inventive" new investment vehicles (derivatives), a toxic
mix of bad and good loans, and insured them against losses (credit default
swaps). 4. The American People who bid up the prices of houses to stupid
levels and bought houses they couldn't afford (see number 1). A relatively
small subset of these were the sub-prime mortgage holders. 5. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the agencies that led mortgage
bankers to believe that these loans with vastly overpriced collateral were
"safe" because they were backed by government sponsored entities. 6. Congress and the President for failure to act in time. If I could
see this coming out here in fly over country back in March (and I did, please
see my blog at http://tiny.cc/nOB4v)
why the hell couldn't they? 7. The subprime lenders, a small percentage of
which were thugs. Frank Answer
by R. T.: Your
list of culprits is very thorough. The
purpose of my short blog was Bush's legacy and not an in-depth analysis of
the financial crisis. For that, see: I
have also touched different aspects of the financial crisis in the following
articles: New Who Are the Controllers? Posted,
Saturday, October 25, 2008 1:49 am George W. has a base [top 5% of US financial "elite"]. He
has done more for this group of people and entities than anyone thought
possible. In that sense, he has had an incredibility successful tenure. I am
thinking that even his people [those who control] were not prepared for the
complete capitulation of the American citizen. I am thinking they have
realized much more than they ever thought possible and will continue to take
more if it proves to be beneficial to them. As with Prison Planet's [Alex
Jones] End Game--there may be more to come and it may not have anything to do
with "economics". The grand question is who are the controllers and
what's the master plan. It would appear that the controllers are Zionist
Jews--specifically two families: the Rothschild's [European elite] and the
Rockefellers [Neocons]. I am afraid-regardless of who should be anointed
President--that there is more to come. Gary
New Impeachment. Posted,
Sunday, October 19, 2008 5:52 pm The impeachment process
is possible and/or can be used for criminal prosecution even after George W.
Bush leaves office—giving the American people a sense of hope. Even
though impeachment while Bush is in office does not seem likely due to the
complicity of Congress relative to the illegitimate Iraq War,
Kucinich’s efforts relative to impeachment and the efforts of hundreds
of Americans relative to impeachment are not wasteful collectively. For
example, such efforts are beneficial in that (1) legitimate accusations made
in the course of Bush’s presidency appropriately and importantly inform
the American people and the world of Bush’s abuses of power,
corruption, and dishonesty; and (2) legitimate accusations, for example, in
Dennis Kucinich’s excellent book, “The 35 Articles of Impeachment
and the Case for Prosecuting George W. Bush,” may contribute to some
impeachment and/or punitive process against Bush after he leaves office. Dennis Kucinich is
my role model. Kucinich is simply the best. Congressman Kucinich has, in any
case, done invaluable, noble, and exemplary work in pushing for impeachment
so vigorously and single-mindedly. Andrew New "Business as Usual"! Posted,
Sunday, October 19, 2008 9:20 am Well,
at least I had one question answered for me, which was: Why did Nancy Pelosi
say that the President has not BROKEN ANY LAWS, and therefore he could not be
impeached! We, the American public, after voting in Democrats in two years
ago, have been dismayed to witness "business as usual". Thank you
for your insights.... I think you're right, and Americans are, in
general, scorned because of this Presidency. Judith New Perpetuating US hegemony. Posted,
